Art Specifications
Our pricing reflects that you provide digital artwork that meets the following requirements. If you are not able to do so, we can create art per your instructions for a fee. This could be anything from a simple tag layout to a detailed full color layout including logo design.
Artwork must be supplied as a digital file, provided as a PDF file as well as the native file (Adobe Illustrator®, InDesign® or Quark XPress®). Include a file with the fonts outlined. Vector art created in Illustrator® and supplied as an .ai or .eps file is preferred. Artwork should be supplied to scale with a clean vector die line and have a .125” bleed outside the die line when applicable. To understand why we do not accept .jpeg files, click here.
Artwork that is to be printed spot colors must be created with Solid Coated Pantone Colors® except for black which must be provided as 100% black. If your print job is to be produced 4-color process, files must be provided in CMYK mode and any embedded images must be provided as high resolution files (please include the native files).
If you are ordering tags, there are templates of our standard sizes in our Tag Size Guide. Keep in mind for tags we require an area of .25” below the patch (to the right of the patch for horizontal copy) and .25” from the bottom edge (from the far right edge of the tag for horizontal copy) to be free of printing to accommodate for a feed wheel on the press.
Before printing we will supply a PDF proof for you to approve the artwork, size, material and unwind style (if applicable). At this point you can approve or indicate needed changes. We will not move orders forward through the process until a proof approval has been received.
We recommend the use of desktop publishing software such as Adobe Illustrator®, InDesign® and Quark Xpress®. We have limited support for programs such as MS Publisher®, MS Word® and MS Excel®. These and other non-desktop publishing file types will incur additional charges to process. Cad or Solidworks® files must be provided as dxf files and these will also require additional charges to process.
If your art files are too large to send via e-mail, we recommend you use Dropbox or the file sharing site of your choice. If you have questions regarding artwork, please contact our prepress department at extension 112.
